Happy 10th Birthday to Cleardocs

Cassandra Townsend, Lawyer

Cleardocs is now a decade old - a great achievement. Congratulations team!

All about me..
I have only been working at Cleardocs for 2 months and am the newbie in the team.

I have been practising law for almost 9 years.  In my last role, I managed a law office and conducted insurance litigation files.

My move to Cleardocs and an in-house role has been a welcome change for me.  I now sit on the other side of the fence as a client of Cleardocs’ external lawyers, Maddocks.

My role at Cleardocs is to assist in the development and testing of new products.  I have hit the ground running, coming into several projects part way and working with the whole team to the point of release of new and updated document packages.

The serious stuff...
Last week, Cleardocs released updates to several products.  The release was the culmination of solid work within the team and regular liaison with Maddocks lawyers.

One of the changes we have made on the advice of Maddocks, and one of the first projects I was involved in at Cleardocs, was updating the SMSF deed.  The changes were made as a result of amendments to the law, which were envisaged in our ClearLaw article here.

Up to now, the Cleardocs question interface and SMSF deed permitted an SMSF to have individual trustees and minor members.  The law, and the Cleardocs SMSF deed and question interface, now allow for the scenario where an SMSF has minor members and a corporate trustee.

I find Cleardocs to be a very progressive and energetic business unit. I look forward to being an integral part of more new projects for our valued customers heading into this next decade in the life of Cleardocs.
